Probably because it’s easy to just sit there and play instead of getting up and going out. Also, many outdoor sports require you to find someone to play with (excluding biking, jogging, etc.)
I guess there’s also the angle that you don’t know what’s going to happen next in the electronic game so you want to play it out and see. You don’t get that type of unknown in outdoor sports.
Just my thoughts for what they are worth.
An outdoor game involves gathering people to play it, if you’re doing it alone it’ll get boring fast. Outdoor games also have a limit of how long you can play them (time of day etc.)
Electronic games you can play 24/7, and they recreate a whole new virtual world for you to get lost in. Theres always tons of things to do, even by yourself. That’s one of the main purposes of a game; to escape reality and have fun.
Excellent question…one I wish I had an answer to.
Let me share something with everyone…I’m sure many will get a laugh out of this.
I am highly addicted to “Tomb Raider”. I got the first one shortly after it was released and couldn’t stop playing it. Anyone who has played knows what a “secret” is. Basically it’s an opening (such as a cave entrance, corridor, doorway, etc.) that is really hard to catch while playing the game. Inside these openings are useful tools to get you through the game. Anyways, one night I pulled a double at work. I was extremely tired while driving home. I could see out of the corner of my eye a very long row of trees bordering the road I was traveling. All of a sudden there was a very short break in the trees, and then the long row began again. Well, needless to say, the first thing that popped into my head was “OMG! There was a secret back there!!” Believe it or not, I locked the brakes up on my car and actually began driving in reverse to find it!!!!
Yea…..time to give up the game I guess!
It’s down to effort.
Tell that to the addicts that frequent
