Home Game consoles. The first was “PONG”…a very basic video game version of “ping-pong”.

That’s not that simple of a question.

It really depends on what you mean by “video game.” Also “personal computers” didn’t really exist when the “first” game was made.

The first patent for an “amusement device” for a Cathode Ray Tube was given in 1948. Several other games were created on mainframes and other computers (none of them personal).

Most people think Pong was the first game, but that was in the 1970s. It was made by a video game company called Atari. And Pong was basically a ripoff of another, older Ping Pong game created by Ralph Baer. (Baer sued and won a lawsuit against Atari.)

The founders of Atari had already release an arcade game called Computer Space before they even designed Pong. (And Computer Space was actually a ripoff of another game called Space War.)

Wikipedia has a pretty good collection of “first” games.

So the answer to your question is: None of the above.
