How come GameStop took over EB Games and not the other way around?

The point either way so in terms of nondescript and renaming makes sense.
Because Gamestop is like EA, they don’t anyone have better sales then them. They just buy u and what ever they need to succeed ahead of the competition.
Madden VS NFL 2K series is a perfect example. 2k made a better major league football game than Madden.
EA buy all the rights to the NFL, NFL 2k died and got turned into a fantasy team football team

Because GameStop was almost as big and more willing to go into debt, so they outright bought EB Games. It was not a merger. It was a purchase.
